Selkie House is currently working through the steps required to establish the organization and pursue applicable accreditation and certification.

Selkie House is not able to accept referrals while certification is in progress.

We are not publishing an opening date. When we have one we can keep, everyone on the interest list will hear it first.

    Defining what Selkie House is for, who it is being created to serve, and the values that will govern daily life inside it.

    Organizational Development

    Establishing the organization itself — structure, governance, and the administrative foundation required to operate responsibly.

    Property Preparation

    Identifying and preparing homes in the Akron area that can support shared living with comfort, privacy, and safety.

    Policies & Operating Model

    Writing the house agreements, resident expectations, and day-to-day operating practices that will guide the community.

    Accreditation & Certification Process

    Working through the applicable Ohio recovery-housing accreditation and certification requirements. Selkie House is not certified or accredited at this time.

    Community Partnerships

    Building relationships with organizations, employers, and advocates across Northeast Ohio who share our commitment to this work.

    Furnishing the homes, finalizing staffing, and completing the readiness steps that come immediately before welcoming a first community.
