Selkie House

Co-founder

Georgia Blueskies Reed

Selkie House began with a conviction that women rebuilding their lives deserve more than a place to sleep — they deserve a place to belong.

Meet Georgia

Georgia brings lived experience, compassion, and the belief that healing happens when every part of a person is seen, heard, and valued.

That belief shapes every decision behind Selkie House — from how the homes are prepared to how community is built inside them.

02

Why Selkie House

Her vision is to create more than housing. Selkie House is being built as a place where women can rediscover themselves, rebuild confidence, and move toward lasting independence.

The gap she saw was not a lack of programs. It was what happens after — the ordinary, unglamorous work of putting a life back together, usually done alone.

03

Philosophy

Dignity is not a reward for progress. It is the starting condition.

Meaningful change grows through stability, connection, responsibility, and hope — not through pressure, and not on anyone else's timeline.

04

A Personal Note

Selkie House is still being built. What I can promise now is the intention behind it: lived experience, compassion, and hope brought to every woman living in a Selkie House home.

If you want to follow the work as it takes shape, I would be glad to have you along.

The founding team

Georgia Did Not Do This Alone

Selkie House was Georgia's idea, and we founded it together. Georgia helps lead daily life in the homes. Erik and Stephen look after the buildings — repairs, upkeep, the heavy lifting when something needs moving — along with the finances and systems that keep the homes running. Neither Erik nor Stephen is part of daily life inside them, and neither visits regularly.

Healing is not about becoming someone else. It is about rediscovering the strength, identity, and hope that have always been yours.
